Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable, documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective Conduct air cleaning activities including:

performing pre-start checks

carry out sampling

diagnosing faults, identifying and addressing hazards

selecting and using lifting equipment (manual, cranes and loads)

using and selecting appropriate hand and power tools

works effectively with others to undertake and complete air cleaning activities that meets all of the required outcomes including:

using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to others

maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating to confirm work/plans/specifications

passing on end of shift information

demonstrates completion of conducting air cleaning activities that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

performing correct sequencing for starting up equipment

correctly operating and monitoring equipment including:

inspecting operations/plant and catchment areas

adjusting equipment to maintain efficient air cleaning

determining operating parameters and adding reagents

performing minor maintenance

performing isolation checks and shutdown in sequence


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in conducting air cleaning activities through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

identifying and managing risks, hazards and hazardous goods

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues setting up work activity

isolation and breakdown procedures and responsibilities

complying with work health and safety practices

complying with emergency procedures

equipment safety requirements

managing waste procedures

carrying out work according to air cleaning principles and systems

complying with WHS procedures

using operational procedures and checks

applying pumping system and flow charts (pipeline and sprinkler systems)

applying site procedures

applying site safety requirements

applying wet and dry working procedures

selecting and checking for faults, tools and equipment to carry out tasks

diagnosing faults and report defects

interpreting reports and maintain records

identifying contaminant

identifying and complying with equipment limitations and operating parameters

complying with hazardous goods procedures and consequences of spills and hazardous goods

identifying repair requirements

interpreting and applying metallurgical and technical data (basic)
